A cease fire between Israel and the Hamas -controlled Gaza Strip enabled him to travel back to the damaged home , the family of 15 had earlier fled for safety when Israeli tanks entered the neighborhood. The Sha’af neighborhood of Gaza City was heavily damaged during the 50 day war between Israel and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as Israeli troops reduced many of the homes to rubble as they searched for underground tunnels that reached to the border of Israel .
The war destroyed lives, homes, left thousands displaced and weary that a peaceful solution will or could ever be implemented anytime soon as so many on both sides fear , this will only happen again .(Photo by Heidi Levine /Sipa Press).
